Time to adapt to another game

As we enter our 20th year creating these premium scavenger hunts for our clients we have to come to the realization as to what is "next". Our reputation of recreating ourselves has been the mission from day one and continues to be with the simple factor of staying "fresh and new" and most importantly unpredictable. The moment you become predictable then you have lost and your business will start taking a nose dive. So with that said this year we decided to add another branch of our business and create a smartphone version of our game. Granted I have tried to refrain from going into that direction because we know our clients and our players and they love to hold the materials they receive and appreciate the art of it..It's something we pride ourselves on. However we do have to realize that it's 2019 and well...you also have to be relative to society today. So with that said the smartphone version is going to be a version that will be an easier version of ...

How I have used music for inspiration for the past 18 years to Create our Games.

Image
Everybody has their own view on what they need in order to be creative. My biggest tool happens to be music, I find it to be a complete inspiration when it comes to designing a game. The reason why is because quite frankly each song has its own theme as well as its own story. So sometimes as I’m in the middle of designing the look and feel of the game materials and challenges, I’m usually constantly wearing headphones. It pretty much brings me to a completely creative place, and at times I might stop just to listen to lyrics. Motivation is an interesting dynamic, especially when it comes to music. A lot of people get inspired by the design of the song and the beat, which is completely understood. The beat of a song can change the feeling in your body and maybe pump up your adrenaline (if your at a Gym) But I believe the lyrics are more inspirational there anything. The art of storytelling in a song is rare, but when you find one you need to listen to it more than a couple time...

Choosing Our New Cashunt Cities Carefully…

Image
One of the coolest parts of our business is to find new locations for our product that will bring a new game element / theme to the new city that is chosen….but we are picky. A lot of businesses..want to grow rapidly which is fantastic…but that is not our method..I believe rapid growth tarnishes the novelty of the product. For us when we pick a new city it might take a year even two, but it has to fit the criteria. The “criteria” being location, working with the right people, how we can develop our game and have it reinvent itself every year, etc…which we will keep to ourselves. ;) In 18 Years of Cashunt the one thing we are proud of is our reputation..and how that reflects is via the constant repeat clients as well as the fresh faces we see year after year. Building a business is definitely not as easy as people would imagine, just like any other business it takes alot of what many people see as a treaded word..”Work” ;) Once that is achieved and you can sacrifice a few th...

step by step by step..we approach beautiful lands

As some of you that have been following us for the past 17 years as a business you may know we are very strategic and if so picky as to where and when the next Cashunt location may be.  I really do not believe that more and more is great...because at times it stains itself.  I have always loved the independent rebel spirit of business and sometime less and more effective is indeed more.  A lot has come across the table as of recently, however I don't accept anything until we feel that we are ready...which brings me to the next step..brining this international.           The only thing I can reveal is that we have been to bring the Cashunt experience to their area..and after researching the "bleep" out of this particular location I think we are ready to make that move by 2018.  When it comes to this game of entrepreneurship I have been in it for a long time way before it became a "sexy" term..but the best way to get ahead is ...

Just a tad more interactive..

Every year we try to make Cashunt an experience rather than just "a game".  So this season we are taking a different approach to the game, by making the game much more interactive to the player.  So starting this spring we are applying instructional videos on the corner of each challenge page in our game booklets as one avenue.  This way the player can always get reintroduced to the challenge after the initial introductions via a game coordinator re explaining the challenge in a video. So with that said a player or players can have their questions answered right there.     The other avenue we are taking is making our website even more interactive to potential clients by once again adding video to specific game pages. What the visitor will see is an interactive and "clickable" video where a game coordinator will explain the game in a verbal and visual way. This way the visitor get a clearer picture of the game product prior to reserving.  Even though each ga...

Already Fall?

So here we are already for the Fall, funny how the years go by so fast.  But Fall is always a fun and exciting time for us here at Cashunt!  First of which is this years version of The Haunted Dash taking place in Salem Ma this October for it's 13th season!  This year we have added a little bit more to the game to make it even more challenging..but yes the "rats" are still in the game ;).  The other thing that we are offering with The Haunted Dash only for the month of October is that if the whole group of players come to their game in costume we will give each and every player a discount of their ticket price! Hey your in Salem in the month of October, so let's all get in the spirit! The other thing we are changing is that we are taking out The Turkey Dash for the month of November and making all the city Dashes with a Fall theme instead. With that said if you are planning for a game on "Black Friday" this year we would suggest planning well ahead, Black Fr...

One more city to go...

So as of a week ago we kicked off Cashunt NYC to rave reviews, which is pretty darn exciting! I have had my eye on NYC for years and just couldn't figure out how it would work. But now we have merged with some great partners Levy's Unique NY and the game design works very well..and I am very pleased. Now we are looking to one last city for 2014 and we were approached by a city that we find interesting.  We can't talk about it until it's official but the exciting thing is it will be our first game outside the country.  We have been very greatful for this growth but even more greatful with the very cool partners we have.. Stay Tuned :)

Cashunt New York...but where in NYC?

So we just made the announcement of having branched out to NYC, which we are stoked....but now comes the work..  But is it really work when you enjoy what your doing?  We are going to start with one location in NYC, and slowly build from there. With that said,  right now ny games will take place in Downtown.  I was taken on a tour last week to observe the playing area and all I could see was so many options to making this version of Cashunt a really fun experience!     When we mentioned NY to some people prior to our announcement...people were asking if it will take place in Time Square? The answer is no..for now.  What we want to achieve with this version is to show our players a different view of New York City that is rarely advertised.  That way you do indeed see the city in a different light and now collaborating with Levy's New York..the possibilities are endless.  But the next city in the spectrum of NYC is....Brooklyn... I think that w...

Now we unlock the secret to these strange postings...

As most of you know we love promotions and always try to get the public into our little zany world..  With that said, there has been a cool promotion going on for the past few weeks right under your noses.  It's what we call the "pigeon case" about an "old heist" and some lost diamonds that have been missing until now.  These "diamonds" are scattered around the city and now the clues are out there to guide you to them!  Now you might be asking yourself why should I care?  Well...that's a great question and now let us enlighten you..   Read the postings to the pigeon case on our facebook feed and twitter feed and it will give you clues to where these diamonds are.  Once you figure out that location go there and search for the hidden diamond with a secret number to claim your prize.  What are the prizes?  Bruins and Celtics tickets, Cashunt gear, and a free Season 14 private game for 8 players .Keep in mind that th...

Some Cool Things We Can Talk About For Season 14

Happy New Year Everybody!!! We hope you all enjoyed this past holiday season with your family and friends! It's amazing how the years fly by and here we are in 2014 already! We are taking a 2 week hiatus and then we are back to work as we officially enter the 14th season of CASHUNT! It feels like yesterday where we produced our first game and here we are over a thousand games later..wow!   The first part of the agenda is to announce our new Cashunt City later this month..something we are very excited about and close to finalize.  This new city will definitely bring a multi-flavored experience to the Cashunt product..and the possibilities are endless. We were thinking of a second Cashunt City later in the year...but we might just want to go one city at a time every year.      Also this season as we will be introducing a new game book design (if you played Holiday Hijinks this past December you had a beta sneak peek ;)  )  It's no secret that we change t...

New Cashunt location for 2014?

So as we come off of one of  most busiest seasons in our history we are heading to a new season that will probably continue that trend. The one thing we wanted to acomplish in 2013 is to add new cities to our Cashunt family which we did (charleston, philadelphia, and chicago) and they all have been working pretty well.  So that leads to the question where else in 2014?       We want to make the new location make sense (area, playability, walkable, attractiveness and the right facilitator ) before we commit into developing the game for that location.  Those cities that we are looking at is NYC, Savannah, Seattle, and Washington DC. The one thing I would like is to keep all the games for the time being in the east and slowly move towards the west in the coming years.  ( this would rule out Seattle for now).        The other thing iwe look at reliegously is our website's analytical stats ( which every business should do as well...highl...

Two New Cities Will Soon Be Announced!

These past few weeks we have been sooooo busy going into what we are calling "Phase 2".  Phase 2 is basically the expansion of the Cashunt brand to other major cities around the country.  After long interviews with a few desired areas we will soon announce two new cities that will be new branches of Cashunt.  Each city will offer 3 of the top Cashunt games in their city through out the season..those games will be that cities version of the Cashunt's Mad Dash, Bridal Dash, and the Birthday Dash!      We have been so excited about this process for some time now and knowing we are couple of months away from this being reality is fantastic!  With that said we will be announcing these 2 new cities in the coming weeks, maybe even earlier..stay tuned!

St Patty's Dashunt Returns for Season 13!

Image
Our specialty seasonal games are always popular but our annual St Patty's Dashunt is always up there when it comes to this unique game in and around the St Patrick's holiday in Boston!  The St. Patty's Dashunt is a game that has the foundation of a cashunt game and is built upon a Boston St Patrick Theme!      Now in our 13th Season this game is only offered during the dates of March 1st right to March 17th ( March 17th is already SOLD OUT)..we have talked about this being a regular season game..but I personally think it's best played in and around the  March holiday.  The game is great for people that want to have some..fun, laughs, and love a little competition.  This game is not at all a "pub crawl" but just a fun alternative city game..which is what all the cashunt games are all about!  You can save the alcohol for after the game ;) If you want more information about this game feel free and speak to a game coo...

NEW Public Game: Boston Mad Dash Deluxe!

Image
First of all I hope everybody is back on track after the Blizzard we had this past weekend.  When it comes to our library of games mostly all of our games are private and only one is public, which is the Boston Mad Dash.  With that said we are going to offer another one of our games that can be played either as a private and a public game and  that will be the popular Boston Mad Dash Deluxe.  The BMDD has been a popular staple in private events now for the past 3 years..so we thought it would be a perfect fit for a public game.     The BMDD is a 3 1/2 hour event that starts off from Harvard Square and ends off in the Faneuil Hall area.  The public version of the game will be offered on the first Sunday of each month starting on May 5th thru September 8.  You will be able to purchase tickets online through eventbrite.com, active.com, and boston.com.  As always public games will always be public vs public event..we only al...

Put A Ring On It With a "DASH" ;)

During our 11th season of our game our office  started getting calls from certain individuals that wanted to use one of our game platforms as a disguise for a wedding proposal.  When I spoke to the very first gentleman that was thinking about this idea..the first thing I said to myself was "how the heck am I going to pull this off!"  So I turned it down…then after I took his information and got to thinking about it after we both got off the phone..  I took out my sketch book out and suddenly found myself designing a game that would be solely customized to a wedding proposal.  After a day I called that particular gentleman up..and I simply said that we are on!    So after several weeks of customizing, scouting, designing, and planning the ultimate ending to this particular game …which was a wedding proposal..it was game day. Our client had brought some friends and family to play as well as his unsuspecting girlfriend..and they played what ...

CASHUNT CHAMPIONSHIP XIII in "Havahd Squah"

Image
This year's Championship will be held on October 27th and usually for the past 3 years we have held it in Salem Ma during Haunted Happenings which is always so much fun.  But this year we are changing it up a little bit, we will be hosting the game in Harvard Square and the Back Bay area.  What changed our mind was after researching the Harvard Square area for our new game "The Havad Yahd Dash" we thought it would be the ideal place to host our championship there because there is soooo much detail in that area alone.  Also by including the Back Bay area it just expands the game so much more…the bigger the area the better.     As we did last year our finals will only include our 2 top teams of the year..we think it becomes so much more competitive when you have it that way..when we had it as the "final four" for the past 11 seasons something lacked and it just didn't seem right..but by doing it this way ..it just works like a well oiled machine. ...
