Time to adapt to another game

As we enter our 20th year creating these premium scavenger hunts for our clients we have to come to the realization as to what is "next". Our reputation of recreating ourselves has been the mission from day one and continues to be with the simple factor of staying "fresh and new" and most importantly unpredictable. The moment you become predictable then you have lost and your business will start taking a nose dive. So with that said this year we decided to add another branch of our business and create a smartphone version of our game. Granted I have tried to refrain from going into that direction because we know our clients and our players and they love to hold the materials they receive and appreciate the art of it..It's something we pride ourselves on. However we do have to realize that it's 2019 and well...you also have to be relative to society today. So with that said the smartphone version is going to be a version that will be an easier version of ...

Just a tad more interactive..

Every year we try to make Cashunt an experience rather than just "a game".  So this season we are taking a different approach to the game, by making the game much more interactive to the player.  So starting this spring we are applying instructional videos on the corner of each challenge page in our game booklets as one avenue.  This way the player can always get reintroduced to the challenge after the initial introductions via a game coordinator re explaining the challenge in a video. So with that said a player or players can have their questions answered right there.     The other avenue we are taking is making our website even more interactive to potential clients by once again adding video to specific game pages. What the visitor will see is an interactive and "clickable" video where a game coordinator will explain the game in a verbal and visual way. This way the visitor get a clearer picture of the game product prior to reserving.  Even though each ga...

The Hustle vs The Dash!

As we are slowly closing the book to our 13th chapter of our game we are already preparing for our 14th Season of our games. One of the biggest changes is with our "Mad Dash" series in Boston, Back Bay, and Salem. As of next season all general games in Boston, Back Bay and Salem will be still called with the Mad Dash label following them.  But all corporate related games will now be part of the new "Hustle" series..ie: (The Boston Hustle, The Backbay Hustle, and The Salem Hustle) The difference between the Dashes and the Hustles will be huge! The Mad Dash series game will give players the more general foundation of the game with a surprise here and there during their 2hr experience. The Hustle series for corporate events/games will add many more secrets / cryptic challenges that will give players and more diverse and competitive experience of the game. Them Hustle series will be available starting Jan 10th just in time for Season 14!

NEW Public Game: Boston Mad Dash Deluxe!

Image
First of all I hope everybody is back on track after the Blizzard we had this past weekend.  When it comes to our library of games mostly all of our games are private and only one is public, which is the Boston Mad Dash.  With that said we are going to offer another one of our games that can be played either as a private and a public game and  that will be the popular Boston Mad Dash Deluxe.  The BMDD has been a popular staple in private events now for the past 3 years..so we thought it would be a perfect fit for a public game.     The BMDD is a 3 1/2 hour event that starts off from Harvard Square and ends off in the Faneuil Hall area.  The public version of the game will be offered on the first Sunday of each month starting on May 5th thru September 8.  You will be able to purchase tickets online through eventbrite.com, active.com, and boston.com.  As always public games will always be public vs public event..we only al...

Our Game-Booklets Are Coming "ALIVE!" Again This Season!

Image
Last year we tried to make the game have more of a "post game appeal" after one has competed in one of our Cashunt games.  So what we decided to do with the game design of the book is to put some hidden codes within, which could be activated at any given moment  (days, weeks, or even months) after one has played an actual Cashunt.  Initally people that play a Cashunt game will be handed their game materials back at the end of their experience, so they can keep the booklets as a souvenir.   So as we noticed more so with repeat players, that they tend to keep all the game booklets from different seasons , we thought..let's have the game booklet take on a life of itself.   With that said we placed hidden clues within the game booklets that would be hidden to the naked eye and be more visible once we "activate them".  Once activated it will give our players a chance to find the clue in the game booklet, that will eventually lead them to a voucher hi...

Put A Ring On It With a "DASH" ;)

During our 11th season of our game our office  started getting calls from certain individuals that wanted to use one of our game platforms as a disguise for a wedding proposal.  When I spoke to the very first gentleman that was thinking about this idea..the first thing I said to myself was "how the heck am I going to pull this off!"  So I turned it down…then after I took his information and got to thinking about it after we both got off the phone..  I took out my sketch book out and suddenly found myself designing a game that would be solely customized to a wedding proposal.  After a day I called that particular gentleman up..and I simply said that we are on!    So after several weeks of customizing, scouting, designing, and planning the ultimate ending to this particular game …which was a wedding proposal..it was game day. Our client had brought some friends and family to play as well as his unsuspecting girlfriend..and they played what ...

CASHUNT CHAMPIONSHIP XIII in "Havahd Squah"

Image
This year's Championship will be held on October 27th and usually for the past 3 years we have held it in Salem Ma during Haunted Happenings which is always so much fun.  But this year we are changing it up a little bit, we will be hosting the game in Harvard Square and the Back Bay area.  What changed our mind was after researching the Harvard Square area for our new game "The Havad Yahd Dash" we thought it would be the ideal place to host our championship there because there is soooo much detail in that area alone.  Also by including the Back Bay area it just expands the game so much more…the bigger the area the better.     As we did last year our finals will only include our 2 top teams of the year..we think it becomes so much more competitive when you have it that way..when we had it as the "final four" for the past 11 seasons something lacked and it just didn't seem right..but by doing it this way ..it just works like a well oiled machine. ...

If it isn't broke…sticking with what works for us.

So here we are 2 weeks into our 13th season and the new design has been played by  (handful of games / 10 different teams) and the result was positive…WHEW!  As I had mentioned in the previous post about reinvention…it's always good to be fresh..but in the same instance (the "reinvention") has to work or it will backfire and then we will have a downslide.  Fortunately other than a couple of suggestions about "additions" to the game..straight A's across the board!  Thank you!      Some people in the past have suggested to take the game more into the virtual world and have the game done all by smartphone.  Look I know that exists and the companies that are using that platform are doing very well and more power to them…Cashunt is not that.  The only tech aspect we are using on our game is only 10% and that is through QR codes..other than that it's all physical materials.        Call us old school but I believe...

Time For Reinvention…Again ;)

Image
First of all HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!  We hope you all enjoyed your holiday season, it's always a great time but it just goes by too fast..   So new year  and for us new season, which we are excited about as you can imagine.  With that said it's that time again for "reinvention", which has become an annual tradition here at  Cashunt for the past several years.  The goal is pretty simple…change some of the game  and make it fresh which includes the game's foundation and design.  So with that said I just looked at the new design and I am pleased and excited for this years version.      You maybe be asking what is the difference from the past few years, (that question is usually brought up by repeat players that have played the game before).  With out letting the "cat out of the bag" and sounding a tad vague,  what we can tell you is that the game is no longer "6 challenges rolled into on zany game" it's much mor...

Cashunt Urban Race Test Run June 1, 2013

In the past year we have been doing a variety of research on urban races that take place around the country now for the past several years.  With that research we have studied these "amazing race" style of games and seen what makes them so attractive and yet addictive to their players that makes them come back for more each and every year.  The conclusion we came back with was... just competitive fun..period.  So there really is no secret as to what makes these games so special but the one thing is evident, they are all pretty much a "cookie cut" of each other.  So here is where we come in..     What we strive for is a couple of things that makes any Cashunt game stand out..the quality of the product , the experience, and the reward to player..those three aspects are the essential part as to what makes the experience different.  So we have come up with the blue print of our version of an urban race.. our version will have elements of the ...

The "ART" of the Dash!

Image
Every once in a while we try to think of something different and try to reinvent ourselves each year to bring something new to the public and to our players.  With that said last year we were doing the typical updating of our current games for the upcoming season, until suddenly we stumbled onto something... We noticed all this outdoor artwork commissioned by city of Boston that is  spread out all around the city.   We believe that all this artwork that has been around for years as well as the new pieces that have been popping around the city have gone unnoticed,  so I thought we can change that.      By installing the foundation of our game combined we these cool, classic, and contemporary pieces, we have created yet another fun Boston experience, which we are calling "The Art Dash"    This game will take players to all these cool locations as well as competing against other teams doing fun and competitive challenges along the ...

The DASHRUN Returns This Summer!

This summer we will be bringing out of retirement one of the games that started the whole thing for Cashunt.  Starting in July we will be offering The DashRun.. The DashRun was the first game we ever offered when we were starting out 12 years ago.  The DashRun will start off from Salem, Ma and end off in Boston, and everything in between will be in play!   We dusted off the old blueprint of this multi-city competition and tweaked it  to fit more of a 2012 setting, where the challenges are new and fun.  The DashRun will be a 4 hour game that will only be conducted on Sundays from June all the way to September.  As always all media from the event will be free to our clients 24hrs after the event. For more information about the game feel free and call our office. (Monday Thru Friday 10am to 5pm) Bookings will start in May..

Additional Twists..

So as we approach our 12th season of Cashunt in a couple of weeks we always love to recreate ourselves this time of year just to make things always "fresher" for our upcoming players.  So what do we have in store this upcoming season will involve a few different aspects to the game in a tech level as well as a strategic level. How we are coming to approach this aspect of our games will be by us including 4 additional pages to our game books.  Now by what we have seen thus far it looks pretty cool and we also included these new aspects in "test games" this past summer to see if they indeed work and they did perfectly.  A couple of weeks ago we had a viral campaign called Operation: Lenguini that if read closely led the public to some cool promotional prizes as well as one individual scoring a pair of tickets to an upcoming bruins game in a week from now.  As always we encourage our readers to follow us on our facebook and twitter pages, at times we issue viral campai...

Old School VS New School

Old School vs New School has been a battle when it comes to technology especially in this day and time.  Now, I happen to be a huge fan of tech and have been for many many years.  But I have to admit, I am a bit old fashioned when it comes in and tries to take over old concepts.  I am not crazy about the idea of books now being  replaced by tablets and DVDs being replaced by streaming video, it has become the death of book, video and music stores/chains.  Now it has even entered the now "Scavenger Hunt Industry"...(never thought in a million years their would be such a thing by I was told recently that it does)  I assume it's a good thing ;)       There are companies that use hand held smartphone and have now created "scavenger hunt like" apps.  To those companies I think they are fantastic companies and I respect them to utmost..but the old fashioned interaction of a physical scavenger hunt can never reall...

The Difference...

There are times that I might speak to a potential client and one of their top questions are..."What sets you apart from other companies that offer scavenger hunt competitions?"  Great question!  I can't tell you all how many times in 11 years I had to answer that question..and honestly I am never tired of it.  The answer is pretty simple great price, great experience, and great promotions..with that said I think we stand above the other competitors because I don't think they would drop their price to offer the same thing.  Most of our competition is double the price from what we offer, and 1/4 of what we offer  Now we can clearly charge the amount our competitors do...but why should we? The old saying goes "if it's not broke..."  We love to hear when people are inquiring about our games and ask "so everything that you mentioned is in one packaged game at that  price?"  Our answer..absolutely! At the end of the day it's about the client and ...

Gift Certificates for 2011 Games!

As always this time of year we always have great promotions when it comes to the upcoming season!  So this Holiday Season we will be offering a 10 player package Boston Mad Dash Game for any date in the upcoming year for simply $300 that is a $50 savings from the retail price of $350.  A normal ticket price for a Boston Mad Dash Scavenger Hunt competition is $35pp but with this special promotion the ticket price will be $30pp.  When you purchase your gift certificate it would be a good idea to let us know a date you have in mind especially if it is a weekend... If you don't, no worries you can let us know at a later time (we would suggest a month prior to the date your looking at)  for more information about this promotion you can speak to a game coordinator and we will give you all the details.  This promotion ends 12/31/10.
A little overwhelming.... It's been an amazing first couple of months and we just started our 10th season. Besides being really excited about what we have in store for all players this year, the media keeps knocking on our door. It is a little overwhelming for that to happen all of the sudden and we are greatfull for those that have contacted us and having us share the experience of the game. On top of that without really me knowing anything untill recently we are now ranked 4th best attraction in Boston out of 330!! (as of this blog) on Trip Advisor.com here in Boston. WHAT?!!? how did that happen?!? We must have been doing something right and to us that is the most important thing we could ever ask for and we thank all of you that have made that happen! One thing we always believe is give our players the very best product, amazing customer service, at a fantastic price and constantly listen to our players. With that all rolled into one it's a no-brainer.
Twitter is the place to get up to the minute Cashunt News! So we hope all is well with all of you! Our 10th season has finally kicked in 4 weeks ago and so far everything has been fantastic! Already people have tried our newer games "Twithunt and The Gold Rush" which is great in it self because newer games don't really get that much traffic until later in the season. So far so good Cashunters! Obviously with the age of social media we are constantly trying to stay in touch with old, current, and future Cashunters telling you all the latest in this crazy world that is Cashunt! But the most effective way we bring the latest news before it even hits this blog is through Twitter. With that said join our Twitter fan list to recieve all the latest and cashunt promotions we have during the year! log onto www.twitter.com/cashunt and as always check back here for more detailed information on that news!

WOW! WHAT A SEASON THUS FAR! TEAM BREAKS FIDELITY'S RECORD! Ok our reaction has not been that explosive as it is this year, but like I have mentioned before this is by far the best season of the last 9 years. Why you may ask? The teams have been fantastic and extremely competitive in the first quarter of this season! We have also seen the top four change completely 7 times and the Record for the highest score of all time was broken last week by the Mamma Jammas! Fidelity has owned that record for 3 years their score of 12,425 (an unbeatable score) was blown wide open by the Mamma Jammas with 12,800! With that score I think that will secure this team a position in the Championship, but then again the way this season has been going anything can happen!
